It is one of the most important archaeological sites of the entire American continent, located one hour from the city of La Paz, near Lake Titicaca.
The population of Tihuanacu bases its economy on agriculture and livestock. Its rich architecture is characterized by the decoration with reliefs, drawings and subsoils placed in paths, which denotes a vast knowledge of engineering and astronomy.
The archaeological zone is composed of seven main architectural constructions: Kalasasaya, Templete Semisubterráneo (an almost subway temple), Akapana pyramid, Kantatallita, Kerikala, Putuni and Puma Punku.
