Overview
Ancohuma, located north of the Cordillera Real, east of Lake Titicaca, and just south of Illampu, near Sorata, is one of Bolivia’s highest peaks. Although slightly taller than Illampu, Ancohuma is considered a gentler and more accessible climb. Its routes are less exposed, making it suitable for experienced climbers looking for a challenging but more forgiving ascent. From the summit, climbers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Bolivian Andes, glaciers, and surrounding highlands, offering an impressive and memorable mountaineering experience.

Day 3.
Chijllata – Base Camp
The road is very steep and it is difficult for some sections. The trail follows the glacial moraine and ends at Laguna Glaciar at the base of the snow-capped peaks. In the afternoon, we will install a camp on the edge of the impressive lake.

Base Camp – High Camp
The ascent to the high camp (5,600m) today starts on a rocky moraine and towards the end of the day it will take us to the glacier itself.

High Camp – Summit – Base Camp
From the high camp, the ascent to the summit is completed in 4-5 hours. From there we descend to the Glacier Lake.
