A piece of the Cordillera Real
This tour gives a strong flavor to its diversity, crossing 4 mountain passes, one each day and passing through three beautiful lagoons, is a true wonder, ideal for trekking lovers or for those who are looking to acclimatize while enjoying the Cordillera.
The high altitude requires being reasonably well acclimatized to enjoy this excursion, but it is not extremely demanding from a physical point of view.

La Paz – Ajuani – Juri Khota
Early departure from La Paz by vehicle to the Ajuani valley, where we start our hike (4,700 m), the road is rocky but attractive until we reach the Sistaña lagoon, where we take a break for lunch. At this point, the road begins to ascend to the top and then descend to reach the Juri Khota lagoon that belongs to Tuni – Condoriri, beautiful and isolated, surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
We camp on the shores of Juri Khota Lake.
Juri Khota – Chiar Khota
From the Juri khota lagoon we start by going around the lake and then up a steep slope to reach the Ventanani lagoon (4,900m). From there we continue climbing to a second pass (Paso Austria 5.140 m.), the ascent to Pico Austria (5.350 m.), its summit is an excellent viewpoint of the entire Cordillera, after a photo session we descend to Laguna Chiar khota (4.630 m.) where we will establish our camp.
Chiar Khota – Maria Lloco
Today’s pass is Jistaña (4,900 m), which leads to the Racacha valley, we continue through the valley until we reach a small ranch where we set up our camp. At the bottom of the valley we can see the mountains of Maria Lloco and the west face of Huayna Potosi.
Maria Lloco – Huayna Potosi
Our last pass is Huallatani (4,850 m). From here, on a clear day, we can enjoy the impressive views of the mountains of Maria Lloco and the mighty Huayna Potosi, we continue to the base camp of Huayna Potosi where our vehicle will pick us up to return to the city.
