Description
The Chacaltaya was notable for being the highest ski slope in the world as well as the closest to the equator.
It has had a ski slope since the 1940’s, possibly much earlier.
Currently in 2022 the mountain is remembered with melancholy, no longer has snow, its ski slope no longer exists, undoubtedly one of the best known mountains and remembered by many ski lovers and pioneers of the mountain, now a tourist place little crowded for those who want to know or remember what once was the highest ski slope in the world.

We leave the city with tumbo to milluni, approximately 1 to 2 hours of travel by car, the road is bumpy in some parts, nothing to worry about.
We arrive at the refuge at 5,300 meters where we will observe what once was the highest ski slope in the world and the city of El Alto and its plain, we continue climbing to one of its peaks to have a panoramic view of Huayna Potosi and part of the Cordillera Real and continue to its second peak.
Finally we return to the refuge to take the vehicle and return to the city.
